Dr. Evan Atar Adaha, a Shining World Compassion Award recipient, is a surgeon and the winner of the 2018 Nansen Refugee Award. His hospital in Bunj, South Sudan, is the only functional hospital in the Upper Nile State, serving around 200,000 people, including 144,000 refugees from Sudan. “He has done what the UNHCR cannot always do.
