In its “Emissions Gap Report 2020,” the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has revealed that the planet is on course to warm beyond a devasting three degrees Celsius by the end of the century, despite a drop in emissions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To reverse this disastrous pathway, the assessment made a range of recommendations for crucial lifestyle changes, stating: “For food, a shift towards vegetarian or vegan diets offers substantial potential for carbon mitigation,” reducing up to 0.9 tons of CO2 per capita per year.

Measures were also suggested including taxes on high-carbon (meat) foods, subsidies to help people buy more fruit and vegetables, and major supermarkets encouraging consumers to choose plant-based meat alternatives.

Thank you, United Nations Environment Programme, for this report. We pray for the urgent worldwide implementation of vegan law to ensure a stable and livable climate, in Heaven’s grace.
