Amsterdam takes steps to protect people from the animal kingdom.

The city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands recently prohibited the sale of live lobster and crab-people, along with fur from all 34 of the city’s markets. The law will be actively enforced starting January 2022. It was originally proposed in 2018 by the animal rights political group, Party for the Animals.

Amsterdam has already banned the use of nonhuman beings for advertising purposes as well as ensured that all catering for city functions is vegetarian. For this latter move in 2019, Amsterdam became a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate.

Way to go, Amsterdam city council, on your humane legislation for the sentient lobster-people, crab-people, and furry friends. In Celestial mercy, may outright bans on all non-vegan products soon be enacted across the world as we empathize with others’ suffering and take action to protect them.
