The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has made an additional donation of US$8.9 million to provide urgent humanitarian relief to the Central African Republic’s people. Since its December 2020 presidential elections, the nation has faced COVID-19, flooding and widespread conflict that has left an estimated 2.6 million persons suffering from severe food insecurity. USAID is addressing this crisis through its package, which includes locally sourced food for 62,000 beneficiaries for two months as well as critical treatment and support for undernourished children, mothers, and caregivers. It will also enhance logistics efforts, including upgrading roads to help better serve remote populations. Funds will also assist more than 722,000 displaced persons by providing shelter, improving sanitation and camp management, along with offering psychosocial services to abuse victims. Powerful storms swept throughout Turkey at the end of November 2021, sadly taking the lives of six people and injuring many. Property damage was extensive, with 528 building roofs being blown away, 839 trees uprooted, trucks being overturned and more, while emergency services in Istanbul received 4,000 calls. Environmental expert Dr. Belgin Elipek explained, “Rainfall and storms are a direct result of climate change which strengthens the impact of any such weather events... Such extreme weather conditions will be more frequent without addressing the climate change issue.” Such saddening news, Turkey, on the loss of lives in your nation and extensive damage to property and nature. New research finds that almost three-quarters of Melbourne, Australia’s power could come from solar.
A recent study by scientists from Australia’s Monash University and ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science, and the University of Lisbon in Portugal has found that by integrating rooftop and window-based solar panels into Melbourne’s city central buildings, 74% of the its power needed could be generated in this way. Doing so would help the city meet the nation’s goals for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It would also resemble the situation that existed prior to the 1920s when power was generated locally by businesses, but this time it would be produced in a pollution-free way. Thank you, researchers, for your fascinating study into the possibility of locally producing enough electricity in an environmentally safe way to run almost an entire city’s municipal area. International design company Carlo Ratti Associati and energy company Eni placed the floating bubbles in the Brera Botanical Garden, which is managed by the University of Milan. Named “Natural Capital,” the temporary exhibition consisted of spheres of various sizes placed throughout the gardens, showing the yearly carbon storage capacity of 34 tree species growing in the space. Each tree variety was analyzed and classified by Professor Alessio Fini of the University of Milan to determine its respective carbon-absorbing abilities. To further emphasize the importance of plants, a giant ball was placed at the entrance of the garden to show the annual CO2 emissions of a human being. Compassionate women care for abandoned children with disabilities.
The non-profit Santvan Viklang Vikas Mandal, founded by Neelam Parmar and her sister Rekha and father in 2012 in Junagadh, India, is dedicated to helping differently-abled children and adults whose families are not willing or able to take care of them. Neelam, who has been 80% paralyzed since birth, saw many people with serious disabilities when she was in the hospital for over a year, accompanied by her sister. After learning about the compassion of the Lord Buddha, Neelam realized her destiny lay in helping others. The two sisters started by caring for two girls in a small rented hut using their personal savings and donations. Today, their center currently has 40 residents, while the sisters envision expanding to accommodate as many people as possible in the future, including those with severe disabilities. Abandoned dog-person adopted by his neighbor.
When a canine–person, later named Doakes, was abandoned by his previous caregivers, he was brought to a shelter by animal-people care officers. A kind neighbor, who goes by his TikTok handle @Sunnyvaletrailerpark, upon learning of Doakes’ sudden disappearance, called several animal-person shelters and eventually located and adopted him. The caring man posted a clip on TikTok showing Doakes calmly waiting for his new caregiver. Doakes now has a canine-person brother named Dexter, and the two of them have a fenced-in yard to safely play in. The story was welcomed and praised by more than 6.9 million viewers on TikTok. Congratulations, Doakes, on your new loving home. Our admiration, kind rescuer, for making Doakes part of your family. May you, Doakes and Dexter enjoy many years of devoted friendship. I am very grateful to Master and the Supreme Master TV team for your wholehearted and loving efforts in producing such high-quality programs fully charged with positive energy. At present, the COVID situation is quite serious. On television, most media are feeding people disheartening information. Fortunately, we have Supreme Master TV broadcasting comforting and positive messages. It is indeed a powerful, cleansing current in this grim and tumultuous world. I have been sharing with my friends and relatives Supreme Master TV’s World Vegan prayer message, hoping that everyone would feel as comforted and encouraged, as I have been. On a Between Master and Disciples program titled “The Ten Commandments and Moses and the Ants,” our Beloved Master mentioned, “The animal-people are so amazing, “The animal-people are so amazing, so incredibly loving, and kind, and protective.” I wish to share an experience related to this.
I live in Taipei. There used to be some big trees and greenery in front of my house. Gradually, they gave way to new buildings. The bird-people lost much of their habitat and feeding ground, thus had no choice but to venture onto the roads for food. Due to the busy traffic, they are at risk of being hit whenever their attention lapses just a little.
For years, I would put out food and water on our balcony and rooftop for them. Truth be told, I am also somewhat accountable for their loss of habitat and feel obliged to pay them a little “rent.” Every day, the bird-people would come to our balcony and sing for extended periods of time. It is so sweet to see the bird-mothers bring their kids and feed them. Watching their heart-warming interactions adds much joy and happiness to my life.
What I had not expected was that the bird-people even saved me from danger. In a lucid dream, I saw the spirit forms of more than a thousand bird-people gather closely around my feet. They had iridescent feathers like those of the peacock-people, shimmering with translucent light blue hues, and had beautiful body contours, slightly larger than pigeon-people in size. They were moving in unison close to one another like a huge bird-river. Together, they huddled tightly around my feet and guided me in a new direction.
In my dream, I could faintly hear them saying to one another, “Closer, closer,” and I thought to myself, “How lovely they are, how tender they are towards me!” After being happily “herded” by them for a distance, I was startled by the sight of a giant white tiger-person to my front left, who had been advancing towards me. I then realized that the bird-people were using their bodies to prevent the giant white tiger-person from nearing me.
When I awoke, I realized that the white tiger-person represented my personal disaster, and the bird-people were helping me to avoid it. Being bigger and stronger than the bird-people, I was supposed to protect and look after them. Yet, it was them who risked their lives to ensure my safety. I was grateful and embarrassed all at once!
Planet Earth is our shared home – humans and animal-people alike. That makes us family. We should care for and love one another. “Love” begins on our dining table.
