Lê Văn Đinh is a kindhearted motorbike mechanic from Quảng Trị Province. His workshop is located near a busy national highway where accidents frequently occur. Knowing that many of the people injured on the road don’t survive due to receiving treatment too late, Mr. Lê used his savings to buy a car to transport them to the hospital free of charge. Taking calls at all hours of the day and night, he rushes to the scene to help. He provides first aid and CPR if needed and then brings individuals to a medical care facility as quickly as possible in an effort to increase their chances of survival. He also raises funds to support wounded people’s families. He has been recognized with many certificates and commendations for his humanitarian work.
“I came to the scene as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) to perform some first aid, and then I also drove that victim to the hospital. (Yes.) And I was the happiest when at the hospital, the victim whom I helped remained alive and lived normally again.”
Our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai offered Lê Văn Đinh the “Shining World Compassion Award and a loving contribution of US$10,000 in support of your benevolent work, with all love, gratitude and high regard for your generous and caring spirit. May you and all involved be forever shielded and blessed in Heaven’s embrace.” Our Association members in Âu Lạc (Vietnam) were pleased to present the Award letter, crystalline plaque, Master’s financial gift as well as Her uplifting publications and DVDs to Mr. Lê.
“In 2019 alone, you raised more than VNĐ 2.85 billion (~US$121,500) from the community to support victims, with patients living in difficult circumstances receiving VNĐ 50-200 million (~US$2,170-US$8,700) each. And when tragedy strikes, funeral expenses are also paid for. Locals call you a saint, blessed with kindness and enthusiasm to help others through social charities in the region, as shown by the sponsoring of 18 disadvantaged students providing VNĐ 1.2 million (US$52) per month to each and giving free vocational training to four underprivileged teenagers at your motorcycle shop.”
Mr. Lê was grateful to receive the Award from Supreme Master Ching Hai.
“First of all, I am honored to receive the commemorative plaque. Secondly, I am touched to receive the monetary award. In February 2021, I am planning to build a house to take care of orphans. And apart from this monetary award, I also wish to raise more money to establish the orphanage. That is the dream in my life. I would like to acknowledge the award and my most sincere gratitude. And I wish Her [Supreme Master Ching Hai] to be healthy and peaceful in Her life.”
As we are reading this, Supreme Master Ching Hai is arranging to gift another extra fund of US$15,000 toward the building of the orphanage, with a big hug and love in Heaven’s Mercy.

Young girls’ body mass index associated with eating disorders later in life.
Researchers from the Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital, Denmark and the University of Glasgow, UK, have revealed that young girls with a higher or lower than average body mass index (BMI) have an increased chance of developing bulimia or anorexia in the future. Presented at the European Congress on Obesity, the yet-to-be peer-reviewed study shows that Danish girls who were overweight at age seven were twice as likely to be affected by bulimia during adolescence and adulthood. Underweight girls of the same age, however, were more likely to become anorexic later in life. The research included data on over 66,500 girls born between 1960 and 1996. United States delivery companies committed to green progress.
Four of the main delivery businesses in the US have started shifting their vehicles to electric with the goal of reaching net-zero emissions in the future. FedEx plans to be carbon neutral by 2040 and will invest US$2 billion into its delivery fleet and sustainable energy development. UPS has bought 10,000 electric vans from United Kingdom startup Arrival, which develops zero-emission public transit vehicles. Furthermore, Amazon ordered 100,000 battery-powered vans from US-based green automaker Rivian in 2019. DHL has already converted one-fifth of its fleet to electric, and its transportation of packages will be carbon-free by 2050. Urban Utilities, a company with a sewage treatment facility in Brisbane, is using a special homegrown anammox bacteria that feeds on the ammonia and nitrogen in wastewater thus removing the pollutants in a very natural way. Since biosecurity regulations prevent importing the microbe, the establishment had to cultivate enough for its operations from a small amount, which took five years. The new highly efficient, Earth-friendly method has brought the plant an annual savings of around US$390,000, as the previous process relied on a lot of energy and chemicals. Taanya Ravi left her well-paid job at a major investment bank. Starbucks, a global chain of coffee shops, has made the popular Swedish oat drink brand Oatly available in all of its US stores as a permanent option. After trialing it in California and the Midwest, the product adds to the variety of other vegan alternatives offered, namely soy, almond, and coconut milk. Furthermore, the chain has vegan specialty drinks like the “Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso” on its menu. Senior vice president of Global Product Innovation Luigi Bonini stated: “We’re pleased to bring Oatly oat milk to Starbucks stores nationwide in the US, something our customers have asked for as they increasingly seek a variety of plant-based choices.” Kudos, Starbucks and Oatly, on your partnership. Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) saves trapped wild bird.
A dog walker noticed a buzzard trapped in a bush on an island in a golf course’s lake in Chester, United Kingdom, and informed the RSPCA. Equipped with a dry suit and headcam, Inspector Anthony Joynes of the charity organization purposely swam to the bird from behind to avoid causing further distress. He was then able to remove the fishing line which was caught up in the animal’s wing. After a few hours of rest and recuperation, the fully-recovered, feathered being was released back into the wild where he was joined by a waiting avian friend. Inspector Joynes is among the 60 RSPCA officers trained in water rescue missions. Our hearts are so gladdened to hear of the bird’s safe return to nature.
