Port of Beirut suffers massive explosion.

On the afternoon of August 4, 2020, a blast rocked the Port of Beirut in Lebanon and took the lives of at least 158 people, injured more than 6,000, with 21 missing and an estimated 300,000 left homeless. The cause of the explosion has been linked to a large amount of ammonium nitrate, a component used in explosives and agricultural fertilizer, that was stored in a warehouse that caught fire. Damages to the city are extensive. Lebanon has declared a state of emergency in Beirut, as United Nation agencies are sending search-and-rescue teams and have released millions of dollars in emergency funding. Countries around the world are also offering help and support. Our heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to all those affected by this tragic event. May Heaven bless and embrace the gentle people of Lebanon with much comfort. Supreme Master Ching Hai heard of the sad news and instructed our concerned department to send the Lebanese Red Cross, US$50,000 in humble contribution for the victims’ quick recovery, with deep sorrow and prayers, in God’s Mercy and Love.

In Shining World Compassion Award News from the United States…

In 2019, the US-headquartered Ocean Futures Society and Whale Sanctuary Project helped to free 10 orcas and 87 beluga whales who had been held captive in Srednyaya Bay, Russia. The Ocean Futures Society is a non-profit marine conservation and education organization founded by acclaimed French ocean explorer, Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of renowned oceanographer and conservationist, Jacques-Yves Cousteau. “I became aware of the importance of that environment (ocean) and the fact that we (are) all connected and depend upon it. So when my father passed away, I decided to create Ocean Futures Society, because I wanted to honor his philosophy and I wanted to continue the mission.” “And I created the mission of Ocean Futures, which is: If you protect the ocean, you protect yourself. ” Collaborating with the Ocean Futures Society is the Whale Sanctuary Project, which is building a model sanctuary for whales and dolphins needing rehabilitation or permanent care. Mr. Charles Vinick is the project’s Executive Director. “It’s about providing them high quality life. We’re looking to create a facility that’s natural, by the seaside, and is more than 300 times as large as the largest tank that any whale has ever had in captivity.” Supreme Master Ching Hai lovingly offered the Ocean Futures Society and the Whale Sanctuary Project each the Shining World Compassion Award, plus “a humble contribution of US$10,000 each” for their benevolent endeavor, “with love, respect and gratitude in God’s mercy.”

Our Association members in Los Angeles, USA, were pleased to present the Award letters, crystalline plaques, and Master’s financial gifts as well as Her publications and DVDs to Jean-Michel Cousteau of Ocean Futures Society and Charles Vinick of the Whale Sanctuary Project.

“Thank you very, very, very much. This is a great honor. And I’m very touched.” “This is a great honor and thank You [Supreme Master Ching Hai] very, very much. I’ve been very touched. We’ll never stop doing the mission which this is supporting. This is very, very exciting and we’re getting there!” “Thank you very much. It’s very nice. And of course, the symbol of the heart and the little hearts talks about how we all feel about whales. So, it not only speaks to that in words, but it speaks to it in symbols, and we’re very grateful. Thank you very much. And we are very grateful to Supreme Master for the donation and for the recognition of this work. And this kind of support goes a long way to helping us continue to do so.”

Our heartfelt congratulations, Jean-Michel Cousteau, the Ocean Futures Society, Charles Vinick, and the Whale Sanctuary Project. With such loving efforts, may our treasured ocean co-inhabitants live peacefully in God’s sacred domain. For the full presentation of the Shining World Compassion Awards to Ocean Futures Society and the Whale Sanctuary Project, please tune in to our Shining World Award program at a later date.

European Union supports climate resilience in Caribbean.

The European Union, a Shining World Leadership Award for Peace recipient, and a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Unconditional World Care and True Caring laureate, has agreed to contribute €7 million over five years to assist Caribbean Forum island countries with climate preparedness and response. Benefiting countries are: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. The funding will support a variety of measures that include continuing regional surveillance endeavors during COVID-19, bringing attention to the connection between public health and climate change, and preparing climate mitigation policies. Our sincere appreciation, European Union. In Divine blessing, may the world follow your example of protecting one another and our shared planet.

Up next, Israeli researcher develops electronic skin. We thank the attentive flaggers, who stand long periods in all weather conditions to keep the traffic flowing safely when lanes are closed for repairs. When we return, more thoughtful news ahead, here on Supreme Master Television!

Hi, adorable friends, I am Whitley the vegan White-handed Gibbon. All my friends love my easy-going vibe because I’m a vegan! Try it for yourself and your friends will feel the same about you! I would like to share a tip on how to keep your mushrooms fresh for longer. Put your unwashed, whole mushrooms in a brown paper bag and fold the top down. Then, store the bag in the main section of your refrigerator. The bag will absorb excess moisture from the mushrooms, so they won’t get soggy like they tend to do in sealed containers or plastic bags. Thanks for your attention and love you for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet thus save the world. Now, the global weather.

Israeli doctoral student invents a smart self-healing “skin.”

As described in the journal, Advanced Materials, Muhammad Khatib of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology has developed an elastic polymer material inspired by the self-repairing wonders of human skin. What is known as the elastomer’s embedded sensory system can intelligently monitor the surrounding pressure, temperature and acidity. When its neuron-like components detect damage to the electronic parts, a rapid repair process is initiated. The durable electronic skin can also stretch up to 11 times its original size without tear, and withstand damaging conditions such as being soaked in water. The unique design is expected to benefit many fields including robotics and prosthetics. Wow, that’s amazing, Muhammad Khatib. In Heaven’s expansive wisdom, may brilliant inventions like this lead to bright outcomes for a happier world.

Micro homes built for homeless individuals in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Local non-profit, Allia, dedicated to helping charities and businesses create positive impact, teamed up with Jimmy’s, a Cambridge-based charity which provides homes and support to those in need, and New Meaning Foundation, a social enterprise that trains formerly homeless youth in construction skills. Together, the groups have set up six mobile micro-homes, which feature a living room, bathroom, bedroom, washing machine and kitchen. The units will first be placed on church land, then within three years move to other low-cost or free sites in the city according to planning approval given to the coalition. Comprehensive psycho-social services will also be available for the well-being and self-sufficiency of residents, who can choose to continue living in their homes when the houses are relocated. A high salute and many thanks, Allia, Jimmy’s, and New Meaning Foundation. In Celestial love, may your caring and creative solutions bring lasting transformation to many people’s lives.

Kind-hearted animal groomer is dedicated to shelter canines in Thailand.

Following the lifting of the COVID-19 domestic travel ban in Thailand, volunteer animal groomer, Kriengkai Thatwakorn, has resumed giving urgently needed haircuts to dogs who have had to endure the extreme summer heat for months. From his home in the northeastern Sisaket province, Mr. Thatwakorn commutes by train to various shelters in the country to groom up to hundreds of dogs at each shelter. In addition to keeping the dogs cool, Mr. Thatwakorn highlighted that the grooming helps them find forever homes faster. The 43-year-old man quit his family business to provide the free service full-time for the last seven years, relying on support from friends and social media followers. Our praise and gratefulness, Kriengkai Thatwakorn. May Buddha bless you evermore for your selfless commitment to our cherished animal friends.

Coming up, Canadian government joins vegan investment trend. It’s time for us to pray for Heaven’s help so that we may become more unconditional and pure-hearted. You’re watching Noteworthy News on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News – Forward-thinking News for a Progressive World.

Canada, a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion and Protection laureate, invests in vegan protein.

Canadian Prime Minister, His Excellency Justin Trudeau, a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate, recently announced the Canadian government’s US$73.4 million financing for plant-based protein specialist, Merit Functional Foods. The Winnipeg-based company uses locally produced canola and yellow peas processed with an advanced extraction technology. His Excellency explained, “As people around the world start eating more plant-based products, we have an opportunity to bring together Canadian innovation and Canadian crops, and a chance to create good, well-paying jobs.” The investment comes at a time when the country’s largest restaurants and cafes are offering more veg options. Our applause for your smart plans and compassionate trend, Canada. May more governments recognize the opportunities in vegan food production and thus take the lead to rescue our world, in God’s grace.

World’s most endangered gorilla subspecies is making a comeback.

The United States- headquartered Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has released pictures of a large family of extremely rare Cross River gorillas with infants. Initially thought to be extinct since the 1970s, they were seen again in the 1980s and now number at around 300 in the wild. Cross River gorillas are found only in a very remote part of the forested mountains on the border area of Nigeria and Cameroon. Commenting on the hopeful images, Inaoyom Imong, Director of WCS Nigeria’s Cross River Landscape, said, “It is extremely exciting to see so many young Cross River gorillas – an encouraging indication that these gorillas are now well protected and reproducing successfully, after previous decades of hunting.” Our appreciation, Wildlife Conservation Society, Nigeria and Cameroon, for your continued protection efforts. May Heaven abundantly bless you and the gentle vegan gorilla families.

It is said an apple a day keeps the doctor away. How about a laugh a day brings happiness your way? Here’s the joke of the day entitled “Right Answers.”

Mr. Johnson finally got an interview for a new job as a professor at a reputable university: "Please, Mr. Johnson, tell us more about yourself. Why should we hire you?"

"I have to admit, I am a pretty smart guy. I know all the right answers!"

"That is very good. But why then did you leave your previous job at the other university?"

"Well, unfortunately, everyone asks me all the wrong questions."

And now we have a heartline from Yuan in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam:

Dearest Master, I was fortunate to see You a few times since I was 10 years old. When I knew that I was going to see You, inside me there seemed to be a very strong energy, and probably to release that energy, I had to talk a lot and non-stop to my mother, or just talk to myself. I am always happy and thankful to Heaven for giving me the opportunity to see You. Yuan from Âu Lạc (Vietnam)

Grateful Yuan, It is such a blessing to be in the presence of an Enlightened living Master, like Supreme Master Ching Hai. We thank you for sharing your excitement and joy.

Master has a message for you: “Loving Yuan, I truly wish I could enjoy more time together with you and all your brother and sister initiates as we are one big family united around the globe. Know that it is Love and devotion that connect us wherever we may be. The energy you feel is the Love, the Divine power within you always. We are all God’s children and one with God. May Heaven bless you, your loved ones, and shining Âu Lạc (Vietnam), with peace and joy.”
